This will not be a long reign. Lopetegui appears to last 18 months whichever club employs him. I predict he'll be gone by the start of 2025/26. Not an exciting appointment.

I must be one of the few that expects him to actually be alright even though everyone seems to harp on about how negative he is.

While it's true he prefers a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1, he doesn't utilise the low block, he prefers his team to press much higher up the pitch with genuine intensity.

In transition to defence his go to move is a mid block 4-1-4-1 or a high press 4-3-3. None of this dropping deeper and deeper malarkey surrendering both position and possession.

If he comes in with the intention to turn us in to a similar animal to his Sevilla side, I don't see anything wrong with that. I remember watching them and I don't seem to remember them being either negative or timid in their approach to any game.

It'll be interesting to see how him and Tim approach the window this summer. If I'm being brutally honest then only really Areola, Emerson, Alvarez, Bowen and Kudus of the starting XI are worth keeping - ALL of the rest can be moved on to fund the transfer kitty imho.

Totally agree Brooking. He has one hell of a job on his hands rebuilding this squad. Mass exodus this summer where he will hopefully dump those past it. going to be a very busy summer
